Refuse-

Curbside refuse collection takes place on Fridays. Items should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

The Village contracts with Maharg's Trash Service of Celina, Ohio, and utilizes a "bag system" whereby Residents must purchase specially-marked trash bags. Bags are available for purchase for $7.00 in packages of 5 bags at the Village Offices located at 214 North Washington Street; Schwietermans Pharmacy at 2 North Washington Street; Howell's IGA located in the Amsterdam Shopping Center and at Wagner's IGA located at 257 East Fourth Street, Minster, Oh. *Individual retailers may charge more than $7.00*

The contractor will pick up an unlimited amount of bags from each household. However, the bags should not include refuse of a commercial nature (e.g. from businesses or contractors hired to perform services for home owners, etc.) or bulk items. Bulk items are picked up curbside on the normal collections days and require a special tag which can be purchased at the Village Offices located at 214 North Washington Street. Loose bulk items such as rocks and bricks must be boxed or placed in a "bushel basket" and cannot exceed 60 pounds. Also, chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's) must be removed before certain appliances can be collected. CFC's can typically be found in appliances that use a refrigerant.

Recycling-

Recycling is coordinated by the Auglaize County Solid Waste Management District and is operated on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Recycling Building at 306 South Herman Street. The recycling is staffed by, and benefits, the New Bremen Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

The following recyclables are collected:

Glass Bottles
Please separate colors (clear, green or brown), rinse, clean and remove lids or caps
Labels are OK
Window glass or ceramic glass will not be accepted
Paper (newspaper, mixed paper, magazines and telephone books)
Please bag in brown paper bags; do not use plastic bags.
Beverage Cans (aluminum and steel beverage cans)
Please rinse clean
Food Cans (tin food cans)
Please rinse clean
Plastics (#1 PETE Pop Bottles, #2 HDPE Milk Bottles and Liquid Soap Bottles)
Please rinse clean and remove lids or caps
Plastic bags or oil bottles will not be accepted
