Land of the Cross-Tipped Churches
New Bremen is part of the area that makes up the Land of the Cross-Tipped Churches, a term for the region of German Catholic settlements in southern Auglaize and Mercer counties, as well as portions of northern Darke and Shelby Counties.
The area, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, features the historic Catholic churches, schools, rectories and convents that dot the rural landscape. Although religious in nature, the sites also represent the history of the area and its settlers.
The route is easy to drive, making it a popular day-trip activity.
