Refuse and Recycling Regulations for New Bremen Residents
New Bremen offers a variety of waste disposal services to residents, including trash pickup, recycling and branch pickup.

Where to Buy Bags
The village contracts with Maharg’s Trash Service of Celina, Ohio, and utilizes a “bag system” whereby residents must purchase specially-marked trash bags.
Bags are available for purchase for $16.50* in packages of 10 bags at the following locations:
- Village offices located at 214 North Washington St., New Bremen
- Schwieterman Pharmacies at 2 North Washington St., New Bremen
- Wagner’s IGA located in the Amsterdam Shopping Center, New Bremen
- Sunoco located at 4970 State Route 66, New Bremen
- Wagner’s IGA located at 257 East Fourth St., Minster
*Individual retailers may charge more than $16.50
Curbside refuse collection takes place on Fridays. Items should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m.
Can I put out multiple bags?
Yes, you may put out multiple bags for collection. The contractor will pick up an unlimited amount of bags from each household. However, the bags should not include refuse of a commercial nature (e.g. from businesses or contractors hired to perform services for homeowners, etc.) or bulk items.
Bulk Item Disposal
Bulk items are picked up curbside on the normal collection day and require a special tag, which can be purchased at the village office, located at 214 North Washington St.

As part of the refuse contract with Maharg’s Trash Service, a ‘Clean-Up Day’ is held once a year. Typically the event is scheduled during the spring season, a few weeks after the Cardinal Pride sponsored Community Garage Sales. The scheduled day of ‘Clean-Up Day’ will be announced by the Village.

Village Recycling Services
New Bremen recycling center is located at 306 South Herman Street. The facility is available 24/7 for self-service.
The recycling program is coordinated by the Auglaize County Solid Waste Management District.
Accepted Recycling Items
Glass Bottles
Colors (clear, green or brown), may all be combined. Please rinse, clean and remove lids or caps.
Labels are OK. Window glass, cooking glass, auto glass or ceramic glass will not be accepted.
Paper
This includes newspaper, mixed paper, magazines and telephone books.
Please bag in brown paper bags; do not use plastic bags.
Cans/Foil
Aluminum cans, tin and steel beverage or food cans are accepted. Aerosol cans that are empty are accepted, as well as foil and pie pans. Please rinse clean.
Food Cans
Tin food cans are accepted. Please rinse clean.
Plastics
#1 PETE plastic, #2 HDPE natural plastic, #2 HDPE color plastic, and #5 plastic. Please rinse clean. Plastic bags are accepted in the designated container.

Yard Waste Services
Brush and limb pickup is on Mondays on a seasonal basis. Village residents may place the unwanted brush and limbs in the tree lawn (between the curb and the sidewalk). Please place sticks in a container, like a small garbage can. Village workers will empty the container and return it to the tree lawn.
Curbside leaf pickup is offered at no charge on a seasonal basis. The beginning and ending dates will be announced. Leaves are to be put in the tree lawn.
Village residents may bring grass clippings, leaves, brush and limbs to the village yard waste facility at 300 North Walnut St. anytime. A sign has been constructed to show designated areas. Please dispose of yard waste in the appropriate assigned areas.
