Roll call showed the following members present for the meeting on this date at 6:30 p.m.  Burnell, Lomakin, Condon, Wuebker and Elshoff.  Larger was excused with a motion by Elshoff.  Second by Lomakin.  Also, present were Mayor Parker, Solicitor This, Fiscal Officer Speelman, Chief Skinner and Village Administrator Richter.

Visitors attending were Erin Gardner from Daily Standard, Corey Maxwell from The Evening Leader and Jerry McClannan from Mote and Associates.

Minutes from the February 28, 2022 regular meeting were approved.  Motion by Condon.  Second by Wuebker.  Four ayes.  Burnell abstained.

Mayor Parker’s Report:

  • Meters were read on March 15. Payments due on April 10 will reflect the new rates for water and sewer.

Village Administrator Richter Report:

  • The drive into Bremenfest Park will be closed 10-14 days to install a new approach.
  • Electric poles are being replaced which failed pole testing in 2021.
  • Sludge removal plan has been sent to EPA for approval. Plan to go out for bid on April 5, 2022.  The 24 hour sampling units will be installed this spring.
  • North and South Towers and Reaction tanks will be inspected and cleaned.
  • Receiving complaints that patrons of the dog park are not cleaning up after their dogs. Please use the bags and trash cans that are provided.

The village has been offered a donation of a road sign to be placed at the entrances into the village to commemorate baseball players Theodore “Whitey” Guese and Albert “Mac” Huenke.  The signs are being coordinated by Jay McCollum on the behalf of New Bremen Athletic Boosters.

Village reviewed four quotes on medical insurance renewal.  Stolly Insurance recommends continuing with Anthem at renewal of 3.95%, estimated monthly cost is $19,349.05.  There is no change to deductible or out of pocket.

First Reading Ordinance 2022-03-06 Purchase health insurance for village employees from 5/1/2022-4/30/2022.

First Reading Ordinance 2022-03-07  Adopting American Legal Publishing Ohio Basic Code 2022 Edition.

The village is hiring for seasonal employees.  YMCA is accepting applications for the pool and offering a free family pool pass to employees.  Parks Department also hiring for March-November and May – August.

 Streine Drive in Bunker Hill Industrial Park is often misspelled as Striene  Drive.  In order to file the correct spelling with the county,  an ordinance needs passed that any and all references to Striene Drive be corrected to Streine Drive.  The correct spelling is ‘ei’ not ‘ie’.

Reviewed the Management agreement with YMCA of Greater Dayton for community swimming pool for 2022 season.  The pool will be operated by Grand Lake Health / Premier Health South YMCA.  Management fee remained the same at $13,000.

Elshoff made a motion to adjourn at 6:40 p.m.  Second by Lomakin.   Five ayes.
