Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy Pumpkinfest this year! And thanks to everyone who volunteered or sponsored the event. It was a beautiful weekend to get together with so many people from the community and beyond. The event was a huge success as attendance and sales were up again this year!
In recent years, in addition to putting on a fun community event, the Pumpkinfest committee has aimed to raise money for a community project. This year we are happy to be able to donate $25,000 to the Miami Erie Canal Towpath Fitness Improvement project that aims to purchase and install fitness equipment at Jaycees Park and bike rental kiosks near the Miami Erie canal towpath. As the festival continues to grow we hope to continue to contribute to community projects in years to come.
This year’s Pumpkinfest highlights included entertainment from Nashville Crush, Another Round, Kevin and the Others, Kaitlyn Schmit, Roger DeMange and The Krew. The Artisan Showcase had over 25 local vendors with everything ranging from paintings to home decor to clothing. The Homebrew competition, that was new this year, was very popular and in a blind tasting a current committee member won overall. His beer will be made and sold at Lake Rat Brewing in Celina, Ohio. And as always there was a lot of craft beer to try with beer from 6 area breweries served.
The food tent was very busy this year serving up tasty pumpkin-themed treats. We thank you all for your patience with the line for the food tent. The kids were entertained with the inflatables, Touch a Truck, face painting, sidewalk chalk contest, pie eating contest, and pony rides which were new in 2018. Saturday also included the Great Pumpkin Roll Bike Ride, a cornhole tournament, raffle drawing, and a pumpkin pancake breakfast by the Cub Scouts.
We hope everyone had a great time at this year’s event and we hope to see everyone back in 2019 as our festival continues to grow!
