Strategic Development Plan – Existing Conditions

Existing Conditions Summary (Part 1 of 3)

As part of a strategic development plan, existing conditions need to be assessed in order to understand a community’s attributes. By evaluating the existing conditions, current conditions and past trends, limitations and opportunities can be identified.  Seventeen topics have been identified as part of New Bremen’s strategic planning process.  Part one of the ‘Existing Conditions Summary’ covers the following topics:

Location: The Village of New Bremen has increased total land area to 2.3 square miles, compared to 2.15 square miles in 2010 and 1.2 square miles in 1990.

Transportation: Being in rural America, our access to transportation remains static for long periods of time with occasional need for road widening, reduced speed, etc. The use of the rail has decreased over the years, with only one Auglaize County company currently utilizing the rail access provided by the Western Ohio Rail Authority (WORA).

Socio-economic data: Since 2010, the population has increased from 2,978 to 3,076 residents. The median age of New Bremen residents is 40.6, which is a gradual increase from 38.4 in 2010.

Employers: Key employers within the New Bremen corporation limits include Crown Equipment Corporation, OPUS Packaging, New Bremen Schools, Auglaize Industries, Kinninger Production Welding, New Bremen Machine and Tool, NUPCO Plastic Tubing, Brookside Laboratories and VisionMark Nameplate Company.

Workforce: The 45869 zip code employs a workforce of approximately 4800 people.
